An original Hawkman sword used in the production of the 1980's cult classic film Flash Gordon.
These swords can be seen being carried by the Hawkmen throughout the film. The sword features a hawk claw to the top of the hilt and has been painted black and gold.
The sword is made from fiberglass and measures approx 29" x 7"
It remains in a good production used condition with additional wear from use. It has been restored in places with a full repaint and two of the claws on the hilt show extensive repair.
Flash Gordon is a 1980 English-Dutch-American space opera film based on the King Features comic strip of the same name created by Alex Raymond.
It stars Sam J. Jones, Melody Anderson, Topol, Max von Sydow, Timothy Dalton, Brian Blessed and Ornella Muti. The movie was co-written by Michael Allin (known for Enter the Dragon) and Lorenzo Semple Jr. (who had previously scripted De Laurentiis's remake of King Kong). It uses a camp style similar to the 1960s TV series Batman (which Semple developed) in an attempt to appeal to fans of the original comics and serial films.
The film is notable for its soundtrack composed, performed and produced by the rock band Queen, with the orchestral sections by Howard Blake. The film has since gained a significant cult following.
All our props come with a Studio Props Certificate of Authenticity and have been authenticated by a well-renowned collector of props for many years.
The display stands are not included.
