An original metal treasure coin used in the production of the 2013 hit film The Hobbit; The Desolation of Smaug
Created by Weta Studios, simliar gold coins of this style can be seen in the hoards of treasure guarded by Smaug in his lair, hidden in the Lonely Mountain.
This coin features an engraving of a Boar on one side and is minted in a light weight aluminium, plated with a mix of copper and brass to give the impression of gold.
The coin measures approximately 1.5" diameter.
It remains in a good production used condition with minimal additional signs of wear from production.
The Desolation of Smaug is a film based on the novel by J.R.R Tolkin and was directed by award winning director, Peter Jackson.
It featured many top acting names such as Sir Ian McKellen, Martin Freeman and Orlando Bloom to name a few.
The Hobbit trilogy cost $745 million to make, but grossed a staggering $2.916 Billion worldwide.
It was nominated for 3 Oscar awards 2 BAFTA's and won a Saturn Award for Best Production Design.
