An original full-facial Beast prosthetic appliance used in the production of the award-winning film Beauty and the Beast (2017).
The film was made using CGI characters, however, the production team also built life-size animatronics, make-up and puppets to be moved around on set so they could walk through each scene to get a sense of how it was going to work, these pieces were also used to assist the actors with their performance in reaction to the characters that weren't there.
The Beast character was also originally going to be used as a combination of CGI, animatronics, and make-up. A lot of exploration work was done with this, however when push came to shove the CGI team won and the whole beast was eventually created using CGI mapped on a real actor.
Measuring at approx 11.5" high x 11" wide, it remains in a good condition with minimal additional wear from use.
It is made from a tough foam and has been painted and hair punched after to create the effect shown in the photographs.
