This is an original prop used in the production of the iconic BBC science fiction television series Doctor Who.
Created for the Series 10 episode "Smile" (2017), this Emoji interface was featured in scenes with the Twelfth Doctor (Peter Capaldi) and Bill Potts (Pearl Mackie). These emoji icons appear prominently when the Doctor and Bill explore a vast chamber filled with suspended animation pods housing the last remnants of humanity. In a pivotal reveal, the Doctor realizes that the structure is not just a futuristic city—but in fact a spaceship carrying colonists still in cryogenic sleep.
The prop is constructed from Perspex, with an adhesive backing where it was mounted during filming.
Dimensions: approx. 4.25 inches in diameter x 0.25 inches thick
It remains in a good production used condition with additional wear from use.
The Doctor and his new companion Bill Potts travel to a distant future where humanity’s survivors are establishing a colony on a new planet. They arrive at a gleaming, high-tech city that appears empty—except for robot caretakers known as the Vardy, who communicate through emojis.
The Doctor soon discovers a chilling truth: the robots, designed to ensure human happiness, have started killing colonists who express grief or sadness, mistaking negative emotions as a threat to be eliminated. With the rest of the colonists still in cryogenic sleep, the Doctor must find a way to reset the deadly system before it’s too late.
