An original Hero ring used in the production of the BBC science fiction television series Doctor Who.
This ring was worn by actor Margot Van der Burgh who played ''Katura'' and was seen on-screen in the 1981 story "The Keeper of Traken" starring Tom Baker as the Doctor. Katura was one of the five consuls of Traken. These rings were used as 'keys' to summon the 'Keeper of Traken'.
On the bottom of the ring is "KAT" written in black pen.
Constructed of a metal shank screwed onto a metal shoulder with a large resin pyramid held in place with metal claws to give the appearance of a jewel. It remains in a good production used condition with additional wear from use.

Acquired from the Peter Logan collection; Peter joined the Visual BBC’s Effects Dept in July 1967 where he worked on many episodes as a design assistant making props for the visual effects.
The Keeper of Traken is the sixth serial of the 18th season of the British science fiction television series Doctor Who, which was first broadcast in four weekly parts on BBC1 from 31 January to 21 February 1981.
In the serial, the alien time traveler the Master (Geoffrey Beevers) seeks a power on the planet Traken known as the Source which he wishes to use to restore his life.
The end of the serial introduces Anthony Ainley as the Master. The serial is also the debut of Sarah Sutton as companion-to-be Nyssa.
