This is an original miniature house used in the production of the 1996 stop-motion animated film James and the Giant Peach, produced by Tim Burton and directed by Henry Selick, the acclaimed filmmaker behind The Nightmare Before Christmas.
 
The model was created for the memorable scene in which the giant peach rolls down the hill on its journey toward the ocean. Expertly constructed from plywood with composite surfacing, it also features interior gels designed for lighting effects (lighting components no longer present). A small light has since been added for display purposes.
 
Measuring approximately 3.5 in x 3.5 in x 5 in, the miniature remains in good production-used condition, exhibiting minor wear consistent with on-set use and age.
 
James and the Giant Peach is a British-American adaptation of Roald Dahl’s beloved 1961 novel of the same name. Despite a production budget of $38 million and a modest box office return of $28.9 million, the film remains celebrated for its artistry and faithful storytelling. It received an Academy Award nomination for Best Music and won multiple honors, including the Kansas City Film Critics Circle Award, the Annecy International Animated Film Festival Award, and the Dallas–Fort Worth Film Critics Association Award for Best Animated Film.
