An original 'helping hand' from the 1986 Jim Henson fantasy film Labyrinth.
After her baby brother is kidnapped by goblins, Sarah (Jennifer Connelly) attempts to rescue him from the Goblin King (David Bowie) by journeying through his labyrinth. When Sarah falls through a corridor in the labyrinth, helping hands form faces to communicate as she decides whether to go back up or down.
The hand has a foam core with a metal armature and is covered with a cotton material that had been dyed green. The gloves at one stage had a foam latex skin applied to give them a scaled look, however only a small fraction remains.
The hand shows signs of wear from production use and age, but the piece remains in overall good condition.
It measures at approx 14" long.
Labrynth is a fantasy film directed and screen written by Jim Henson with George Lucas as an executive producer.
It had a budget of $25 million but only took $12.9 million in the US box office. However since its release it has gained a massive cult following.
It was nominated for a BAFTA for best special visual effects and a
Saturn Award for best costumes.
