This maquette was used as a size sculpt for reference. Made from plasticine, or a plasticine-like modeling clay, built over an internal wire armature.

Dimensions (approx.): 5.5 in. (height) × 1.75 in. (width at widest point) × 2 in. (depth at widest point)

It remains in overall good condition considering its age and production use. The sculpt displays visible surface wear, consistent with handling during reference use, including minor scuffing and discoloration. Notably, there is a small chip on the toe of the left foot, exposing internal armature. There are also minor tool marks and pressure impressions typical of studio-handled pieces.

This piece is a rare and authentic example of Aardman’s behind-the-scenes production process, retaining both its artistic character and tangible connection to studio history.

Morph is a small, mischievous clay character created by Aardman Animations, first appearing on British television in 1977. Made entirely of brown modeling clay, Morph is known for his expressive, non-verbal communication and slapstick humor. He originally starred alongside artist and presenter Tony Hart on children’s art shows like Take Hart and Hartbeat. Morph often finds himself in playful, chaotic situations, usually alongside his cream-colored sidekick, Chas. As one of Aardman’s earliest creations, Morph helped establish the studio's reputation for stop-motion animation and remains a beloved character in British pop culture.
