An original Art Department Engineer Head miniature set mock-up created during the production of Ridley Scott's Prometheus (2012).
 
This translucent solid resin mock-up was produced by the film's Art Department as part of the development process for the miniature ship interior set. Created as a scale design model rather than a shooting miniature component, it was used during discussions relating to set construction, lighting, camera placement, and the overall design of the miniature environment.
 
The mock-up features the Engineer's Head, the monumental sculpture seen within the main chamber of the derelict Engineer spacecraft on LV-223. One of the film's most memorable visual elements, the colossal head dominates the chamber housing the urns containing the mysterious black pathogen.
 
Cast in solid translucent resin, this piece features finely sculpted cast-in details that accurately capture the distinctive facial features and proportions of the Engineer Head. The translucent nature of the resin made it ideally suited for evaluating internal lighting effects during the design process.
 
A particularly fascinating feature of this development piece is the small Art Department figure encapsulated within the clear resin. The figure was intentionally embedded inside the Engineer Head as part of an early design concept, allowing it to become visible when the mock-up was illuminated from within. Although this innovative lighting effect was ultimately not incorporated into the finished production, it provides a fascinating insight into the creative development process and the alternative concepts explored by the Art Department.
 
It remains in good production-used condition. It represents a rare opportunity to acquire an original Art Department development piece from one of the film's most memorable environments, offering a unique glimpse into the behind-the-scenes design process.
