An original reference miniature 'King Bateen' maquette used during the production of the 2005 film Sahara.


This maquette was created by the production team to help create the full-scale set piece which can be seen on-screen at the beginning of the film when Master explorer Dirk Pitt  (Matthew McConaughey) and his team NUMA 'The National Underwater and Marine Agency' pull the artifact out of the sea and load it onto the boat, it can also be seen at the museum in a later scene.


This maquette features 'King Bateen' lying on his death bed clutching swords in both hands.


It has been constructed from resin and painted silver.


Dimensions:  20" x 5.5" x 9.5"


It remains in good production used condition with additional wear from use, the handles of both swords have had repairs and one is missing the base of the hilt on one side.

Sahara is a 2005 action comedy adventure film directed by Breck Eisner based on the best-selling 1992 novel of the same name by Clive Cussler. It stars Matthew McConaughey, Steve Zahn and Penélope Cruz, and follows a treasure hunter who partners with a WHO doctor to find a lost American Civil War Ironclad warship in the Sahara Desert.
