An original pair of screen-used Mangalore boots from the production of Luc Besson’s iconic 1997 science fiction action film, The Fifth Element.
These distinctive boots were worn by two different actors portraying the Mangalore mercenaries, the brutish alien race serving as heavily armed antagonists throughout the film. Inside one boot, “AR3” is handwritten in pen, while the other is marked “JG25”, indicating use by separate performers during production.
Each boot began as a standard work boot, which was then extensively modified by the film’s costume department. Paint and weathering effects were applied to create a rugged, battle-worn appearance, and rubber claw extensions were added to the toes to achieve the Mangalores’ distinctive alien foot design.
One boot measures approximately 13 inches long, with sizes noted as 8 and 10 respectively. The craftsmanship and detailing reflect the high production standards that helped define The Fifth Element’s striking visual identity.
Set in the 23rd century, The Fifth Element follows cab driver Korben Dallas (Bruce Willis), a former special forces major, who becomes an unlikely hero when a mysterious being named Leeloo falls into his life. Together, they must retrieve four elemental stones and the mythical "fifth element" to stop a cosmic force threatening to annihilate Earth.
