This is an original Mangalore under-mask created for use in Luc Besson’s iconic 1997 science fiction action film, The Fifth Element.

Crafted from foam latex, this piece served as the structural foundation for the Mangalore heads. Over the under-mask, additional layers such as outer mask shells, facial detailing, paintwork, and in certain cases animatronic components, were applied to achieve the final screen appearance.

Measuring approximately 15 x 15 x 12 inches, it remains in good overall condition with minor wear from production use. The mask comes displayed on a foam head for presentation.

The Mangalores, a brutish mercenary alien race, play a key role throughout the film as heavily armed antagonists. Their menacing design and imposing presence made them one of the most memorable alien species of the production.

Set in the 23rd century, The Fifth Element follows cab driver Korben Dallas (Bruce Willis), a former special forces major, who becomes an unlikely hero when a mysterious being named Leeloo falls into his life. Together, they must retrieve four elemental stones and the mythical "fifth element" to stop a cosmic force threatening to annihilate Earth. Blending high-energy action, striking visual design, and a touch of humor, the film has become a cult classic in the sci-fi genre.

This Mangalore hand represents a unique piece of cinematic history from one of the most visually distinctive sci-fi films of the 1990s.
