An original hand painted animation film cel used in the production of the classic Raymond Briggs 1982 animated television film The Snowman.

The cel shows the snowman dancing with James among the other snowman when they go to visit Father Christmas. It has been framed in a reproduction woodland scene to give the much needed colour contrast, to display the cel to its most visual effect.

This cel consists of an acetate page which has been hand-painted to the reverse. A sequence number has been annotated to the front of the acetate and has a protective page of tissue paper placed behind the image in the frame.

It remains in very good production used condition.

The acetate page measures approx 11.75in x 8.25in and comes in a custom display which measures at approx 15in x 12in.

The Snowman is an animated television film based on Raymond Briggs' 1978 picture book The Snowman. It was directed by Dianne Jackson for the British public service Channel 4. It was first shown on 26 December 1982, and was an immediate success. It was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film and won a BAFTA TV Award.
