This is an original screen-used miniature pillar featured in the beloved British stop-motion animated television series The Wind in the Willows, which aired from 1984 to 1988.
The piece is visible in Season 5, Episode 3, titled "Midsummer Night’s Disaster", and has been screen-matched to that episode, confirming its on-screen use.
It was expertly constructed from wood, foam, and plaster, the pillar stands approximately 8 inches tall with a base measuring 3 inches by 3 inches. It is finished to resemble a ruined stone pillar with classic architectural detail, and features a worn and aged surface designed to reflect a weathered, overgrown ruin—complete with vines.
The pillar remains in good production-used condition, exhibiting expected signs of wear from on-screen use. Some areas of the surface material are missing, consistent with its age and handling during production.
The Wind in the Willows was produced by the renowned animation company Cosgrove Hall for Thames Television and aired on ITV. Based on the classic novel by Kenneth Grahame, the series featured the voices of David Jason and Peter Sallis. It ran for five successful seasons with a total of 65 episodes and earned both a BAFTA and an International Emmy Award during its run.
