An original miniature wine bottle prop used in the production of the stop-motion television series The Wind in the Willows, which aired between 1984 and 1988.
This wine bottle was originally used in Series 3, Episode 13, “Winter Haunts,” and was later prominently featured in the 1989 television special “A Tale of Two Toads.” In the latter, it appeared alongside other bottles on the wine rack seen in Mr Toad’s cellar.
The prop is made from cast resin and measures approximately 3 inches in height. It is attractively presented in a custom display measuring approximately 9.5 inches x 6 inches x 3 inches.
The piece remains in good, production-used condition, with some additional wear consistent with handling and use during filming.
The Wind in the Willows was a stop-motion animated television series based on the beloved characters from Kenneth Grahame’s classic novel. Produced by Cosgrove Hall Films for Thames Television, the series aired on ITV throughout the 1980s. It starred David Jason and Peter Sallis, ran for five seasons with a total of 65 episodes, and received both a BAFTA and an International Emmy Award during its run.
